National Day of Caring 2017- A Resounding Success

The National Day of Caring was held May 21st, 2017. United Way Trinidad and Tobago was able to rally close to 50 partners in over 60 projects around the twin island Republic.

In particular, the UWTT with project manager assistance from the Home Solutions Limited was able to inject significant change aesthetically and infrastructure-wise at the St Mary’s Mucurapo Boys RC school. The entire school was repainted and a few classes received a physical facelift.

Additionally, a library with books was refurbished and made available for use by the students and children.

Images of these activities can be found in the photo gallery.

You can also check out our Facebook page for more updates from other NDOC 2017 projects.

Project Care 2016

The NDOC was once again a tremendous success in 2016. Project Care and some 72 partners truly showed what is possible when collective working is executed with one goal in mind. The Diego Martin Boys RC school was the recipient of almost $1M of cash and in kind contributions.

Over 300 volunteers including students and professionals alike gave up three days to completely transform the school with emphasis being placed on the counseling room, kitchen and teacher’s lounge. In talking to Ryan Perkins (Building Spaces), most of his crew, the professional tradesmen that came out, took no form of payment and instead insisted that it was their duty as they themselves were from the area and some even attended the school.

This is one of 63 projects that were executed successfully and we hope to see even more companies come together and work collectively to create lasting impact on the communities of the chis n project sites.

2016 UWTT National Day of Caring

Now on it’s 4th year, volunteers came out on Sunday May 22nd 2016 for the benefit of others. Companies along with their employees are asked to plan and complete a project for a good cause, it could be for a family, school, children’s/ elderly home, community or the greater public. For 3 years, we also engaged the public to participate in a Recycling Drive which demonstrates that separating paper, glass and plastic is easy and a step in the right direction.

2017 here we come!
