UWTT Q2 2024 Newsletter: Celebrating Champions, Expanding Volunteer Impact, and Strengthening Community Partnerships

United Way Trinidad and Tobago’s Q2 2024 Newsletter highlights the organisation’s post-pandemic Champions Appreciation Event, the nationwide impact of Day of Caring 2024, and the strength of partnerships that supported nearly 20,000 beneficiaries across schools, homes and communities.

The second quarter of 2024 marked a powerful season of reconnection, appreciation and community impact for United Way Trinidad and Tobago (UWTT). From honouring long-standing Champions to executing one of the largest United Way Day of Caring events to date, Q2 demonstrated how collective action continues to transform lives across the country.

UWTT Champions Appreciation Event — Honouring Those Who Power the Mission

On Tuesday 18 June 2024, UWTT hosted its first post-pandemic Champions Appreciation Event at the Courtyard by Marriott. The evening brought together UWTT board and committee members, alongside the organisation’s dedicated Champions—many of whom have supported UWTT since its founding in 1999.

This event followed the tremendous success of Day of Caring 2024, held on 19 May, where over 2,000 Care Ambassadors carried out projects that benefited nearly 20,000 individuals nationwide.

The evening focused on:

  • Re-connecting with long-standing corporate partners
  • Re-engaging company Champions
  • Re-energising employee giving efforts across 60 companies

UWTT also shared updates on upcoming initiatives, including the ALICE Programme, which aims to better support individuals who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed.

Speeches were delivered by:

  • Gail Sooknarine, CEO
  • Kendall Teloka, Resource Development Manager
  • Mitchell De Silva, Director

A special tribute was paid to departing Director Don La Foucade, acknowledging his years of service, leadership and unwavering support.

Full event details can be found in the linked recap document.
